THE GREAT EXERCISE MOVEMENT!
Well, aren’t you in luck. At EvE we do NOT view doing exercise as a means to an end to lose weight. There are far more effective and easier methods. If it is weight you want to lose please pop over to this. In any case, let’s be realistic here. How many times have you started to do exercise with the intention of looking fabulous, and stuck to it religiously? Movement, well, that is a different story and is what this article is all about. So read on if this interests you.
If you are someone who is constantly working out at the gym, or jogging every day, and are relying on this to stay slim, understand that as you get older, this will become more difficult. Apart from that, all you need is one torn tendon or long term injury and all the muscle you have built will turn to fat. We control long term weight loss by what we consume and how it works with our hormones. Get this right and your body will always look great no matter your age or circumstance.
For all intents and purpose, exercise on the EvE site should more be called movement. It is given to you as a way to get you up off your butt and moving. We want you to move more because Science has linked being inactive and sitting all the time with the following. A higher risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, dementia, colon and lung cancers, and early death.
RELATING TO MOVEMENT
In the spirit of being authentic to yourself as you live here on earth, you need to realise that how you ran about and played as a child is normal, and it is not something that should suddenly have stopped now that you are older. You were full of movement because you were full of energy. Time flew and you did not even realise that you were running around because you were having so much fun. Sitting all day long is unnatural. If you were on a deserted island by yourself you would starve if you just sat under a palm tree doing nothing. Even our ancestors knew that they had to get up and find their food every day, and they did this mainly by walking. They did not do this by spending hours at a gym or getting involved in a whole long exercise routine.
If you are spending your day just sitting, then start by getting up and just standing for 2 minutes every hour, and you will already be ahead of someone who does not do that. Slowly build into more. If energy is your problem, please look at our food section. You need to avoid sitting for more than 50 minutes a day without getting up and breaking that. If unavoidable, then sit for no longer than 3 hours. Well done to those of you reading this that are always on the go!
HOT TIP FOR GETTING IN SOME MOVEMENT.
One of the best suggestions I can give you is to always stand up and walk when you need to talk to someone on your phone. Turn it into a habit. Do it whenever you can get away with it.
The cherry on the cake with doing this is that when the conversation is finished you can check on your phone for how long you walked. It is easy to get extra movement into your day when you do this and because you are concentrating on the conversation you do not even realise that you are getting some action in.
Please look at the Sunshine walk if you want to know how and where to walk when you are on the phone. The Sunshine walk has many, many benefits. It is fun, adaptable to your needs, great for all ages and health levels and can be done in a small area.
