MEDITATIONS – QUICK AND EASY
Not everyone has the willpower or physical time to sit for an extended period ommming and blissing out on golden lotuses in cross-legged and possibly cross-eyed positions for Nirvana. If you can spare 15 minutes of your time at midday, whether you a homebody or take a lunch break, this is for you. The following meditations offer a quick reset of your mind or emotions and will leave you with clarity and more energy to face the afternoon stint.
Soothe the Stress
The first one is perfect for you if you have had a stressful, frustrating, or in any way negative morning.
Reset, Restart and Revitalize
The second meditation is great if you are generally feeling fine, but would like a bit of an energy boost going forward into the afternoon.
Meditations – Where and When
As with all the things I offer, you can choose to do the basic meditation or do all the additions as suggested. You can even take parts from one and add to the other and customize a meditation for yourself. Always do what feels right for you by leaving out any parts that you are not keen on.
Both meditations are designed to be done at midday, and for you to fit into your lunch break. You can do it for 5 minutes, or 15 minutes. Stop when you feel you have done it long enough.
The best way to do either meditation is to find a quiet spot outside where no one is staring at you unless you enjoy being the centre of attention, in which case, go you!
You can, of course, do the meditation at any time of the day or night if you want to. If it is raining, or cloudy, then do it inside, but just know that you will miss out on some of the experience and health benefits.
To get the greatest overall benefit, the idea is for you to go and sit in the full, midday sun while doing it.
Why the Midday Sun?
Unless you are a farmer or construction worker, we, as a nation no longer get enough sun exposure. The majority of us are desperately short of Vitamin D due to our funny diets. Yes, some of you do take supplements, but it is not what you should be doing. These supplements rely on you having enough of other things like Magnesium and Vitamin K for the D to work properly.
Getting your Vitamin D from the sun is the very best way to get it. You will get exactly the correct type that you need, and your body will only absorb the amount that it needs, no more, no less. If you can sit in the midday sun when the UV level is high and do this just three times a week, you will be able to tank up your Vitamin D reserves back to an optimal level within a month or two.
It goes without saying that you are not to smear any sun protection on yourself before doing this. Nor should you be sitting behind a glass window as you will be defeating the health benefits. Make sure you can expose as much of your skin as possible, ie roll up your sleeves, if you have pants, roll them up as well. If you are wearing a long dress, lift it above your knees so that your lower legs are showing. Sitting in the sun for 15 minutes will not burn or kill you. Believe it or not, it is perfectly natural and your body has been built for it.
Why have your feet barefoot on the ground?
Well, to help bring you back to nature.
We are not born with shoes for a reason. Our skin is supposed to connect with the earth. Research has shown barefoot contact with the earth can produce nearly instant changes in a variety of physiological measures.
Because the Earth carries a negative charge, and we have a positive charge, we end up absorbing electrons from the earth. This helps to stabilize our daily cortisol rhythm. All these free electrons interact with free radicals in our bodies, helping repair oxidative damage and inflammation as well as detoxifying our blood.
Under each meditation, there will also be extra things you can add into your meditation with an explanation as to why certain things are suggested, to help you decide whether they will benefit you.
